  • Companions Animal Hospital Pet Adoptions

Companions has a strong commitment to the welfare of homeless animals. We recommend adopting a pet from a shelter and saving a life in the process whenever you can. A rescued shelter pet will never forget the person or family who gives them their forever home. Companions Animal Hospital has started a stray fund, the Angel Fund, to help cover the cost of medical and surgical care for sick and injured homeless animals. Staff and clients alike donate to this fund, and it has allowed us to save countless dogs and cats from an uncertain and often sad ending if they had been brought to the town shelter. Some pets, especially animals that are no longer very young, are often the last to be adopted. Please consider giving one of these needy animals, potentially featured under our "News and Adoptions" page, their forever home. You can meet any of them when you come to Companions!

  • AAHA Accredited

Companions Animal Hospital achieved accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), which is the highest standard of excellence available in small animal medicine and surgery. Accredited hospitals pass a voluntary stringent evaluation of over 900 standards covering quality of care, medical and diagnostic protocols, pharmacy, management, medical records and facility. AAHA’s developed and published standards are “widely accepted as representing those components of veterinary practice that represent high quality care” (healthypet.com). An accreditation by AAHA proves a hospital to be in the “best of the best” of animal clinics (fewer than 15% of veterinary practices in the United States are accredited by AAHA!). More information is available at: https://www.aahanet.org/ .

Companions Animal Hospital was also recently evaluated and accredited by the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS).  The NYSVMS is a professional association representing more than 3,500 veterinarians licensed to practice in the United States. NYSVMS evaluators, like AAHA evaluators, assess whether facilities are in compliance with acceptable standards of practice as well as state and federal laws and regulations. • Pet Sitting

We at Companions have found that many of our clients often seek boarding for their furry friends when they need to leave their homes for an extended period of time. Although we offer overnight stays for sick, troubled, or special recovering patients, we cannot offer regular boarding at our facility.

Our staff does offer Pet Sitting, though. A member of our staff (of your choosing) can visit your home and take care of your pet in your pet's most comfortable surroundings. This way, the anxiety created by your absence is at least partially controlled. This can take place in two ways: multiple daily visits or overnight stays. Prices vary by availability, dates, and staff member. Note that these transactions are not monitored by Companions Animal Hospital - this is between you and the staff member. We can, however, vouch for the excellent care your pet will receive.

For more information or availability, come in or call.
